APLFF Events

APLFF fundraising events are the perfect mix of fun and purpose—great for supporting Ames Public Library and even better for meeting fellow book lovers and community champions. Come connect - when we give together, we grow together!

Go to https://bit.ly/PubFiction2025 for information on how to sign up.

Pub Fiction

It’s brews for books—Pub Fiction! Join us for this literary-themed pub crawl every August. It’s fun, it’s hip, and it’s for a good cause!

Come dressed as your favorite literary character and you may win a prize…or just join the fun and ooh and ahh over everyone else’s costumes. All funds raised help support Ames Public Library’s programs and collections.

Pub Fiction kicks off at the library, then routes will be given out as people check in. We’ll have some snacks and some fun, then send you off to your first location. Each participating location will feature a literary theme and drink specials for participants.

Book Sales

Our book sales, held each November, March and July, are a partner to the business of Literary Grounds. We welcome books donations from everyone in the community year-round. Many of the donate items are placed in Literary Grounds; much more are saved for our book sales. Days in advance of the sales, volunteers arrange books and materials in our auditorium, displayed by topic, and over four days thousands of items are sold at bargain basement prices.

For updated information and future sale dates, visit our book sales page.

Brains & Brews Trivia: APL Fundraiser

Ames Public Library Friends Foundation and Alluvial Brewing are teaming up to provide a fun-filled night of trivia to support Ames Public Library!

Along with the brain-teasing rounds of trivia, there will be raffle prizes, round prizes, and Alluvial’s signature brews. This year’s event will be Wednesday, October 15, from 7 to 9pm. Sign up at https://bit.ly/APLFFTrivia2025
