Ways to give

Outright Gifts

To make your cash or credit card gift on-line today, please visit aplff.org. You may also mail a check to APLFF, P.O. Box 1832, Ames, IA 50010. Email development@aplff.org if you are interested in setting up an ongoing pledge.

Your gift may be a memorial or tribute to recognize someone who is important to you. We will notify the honoree or family member of the recognition. The gift amount is kept confidential; you will receive a confirmation and an acknowledgement that your gift has been received and a note has been sent to the honoree.

The Ames Public Library Friends Foundation (APLFF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, FEIN #42-1450291. APLFF helps to support Ames Public Library through fundraising, volunteering and advocacy.

IRA Rollover Gifts

Using your IRA is a great way to give to APLFF. You won’t be taxed on your gift - it will be tax-free and counts toward your annual required minimum distribution (RMD) and you can start making those gifts at 70 ½. Contact your IRA administrator or APLFF for more information.

Gifts of Securities and Stock

By donating securities, you may avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation and receive a charitable deduction for the full market share of your donation. Stocks can be transferred to APLFF electronically or by mail.

Planned Giving

Planned Giving is one of the most impactful ways to continue supporting initiatives that have been important to you in your life. By including APLFF in your estate planning you can make a lasting mark on our community.

Here are some simple ways to make a planned gift:

  • Include APLFF among the beneficiaries of retirement assets
  • Name APLFF as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy
  • Include a bequest gift to APLFF in your will or estate plan.

If you are considering including APLFF in your future plans, contact us for more information and to find out the best way to direct your gift. Or if you have already made that important decision, we are grateful and we’d love to hear from you.

Don’t forget your employer matching program. Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. If your company is eligible, the impact of your gift to the APLFF can be increased.

“We have always loved that Ames Public Library connects people to the world of information and ideas. It is open to all, regardless of social or economic status and is such an asset to our community. Ames Public Library also aligns well with two areas of our own personal philanthropic focus, which is youth and education.”

APL is such a beautiful and welcoming environment. I enjoy being a part of it by volunteering.”
